Latest Update

Hello everyone, we hope that you are doing well. This update report has a few critical topics to cover. Yet another major database change is done, some redirect errors are fixed, and the UI is further refined. Let's get to it!

Database Access

Let's start with the smaller change. Since students re-enroll thier report cards have IDs. The problem with multiple report cards is that you couldn't keep track of what the student signed up for and what type of class usage they paid for. For example a student that signed up for 60 hr package and his last package was a regular 12 week package. In the future you can't make out what the report card was originally signed up for. Now we have introduced package information along with the sheet's id. On the database we added a new table that allows the student to have multiple sheets and each sheet is able to keep track of the details of the class paid.

...

Here you can see the report card has 4 sheets. Each sheet is customizable and it even has a place for a nickname for each sheet.

Redirects

Since this ePorfolio is being converted to a sub program of the real ePortfolio, we had to change what is the landing page and who is suppose to access what. Here is the break down:

...

With the audience defined we should have this page as the main landing page

...

And this is the login for the management system

...

We currently have the login for management system as the main landing page since the other page(s) are still under development. We will update you when this is ready! You can also check out the other smaller pages we have for example this page, contact us and FAQ page. If you see something wrong let me know ASAP so we can fix it.

UI - Bootstrap all the way!

This is the biggest change. One of ePortfolio's weak aspects was the UI. We mainly focused on the core and functionality of the site. Now that we licked most if down and are paving the road for the ePortfolio pages, we decided to start working on making the UI look better.

Biggest change you will see is the login screen. This screen is still subject to change since we want to convey the correct idea of what is the management system and not confuse parents.

The main check in page is also different:

...

The check in page now comes with 2 flavors. The regular mentor accout and the admin account. Regular mentor account can only add information to the student. If the mentor messes something up, you need to let an admin know what the problem is and they can fix it. The admin account of course can do edit, erases and additions to a student's report card.

Here is the admin page:

Here is the mentor page:

The page also displays the amount of classes the student has used. Along with that feature, we also implemented a column to see who was the last mentor and the last date checked in. Another cool change we added is the clunky sidebar is changed to be an overlay modal. The 3 pill on the top left corner activates the modal. Here is how it looks like:

...

This change was due for support of mobile devices with smaller screens. This design give you enough space to vew the important parts while being able to do a drop down to view student's check in or owned students of the account. You can also see that we added an "X" icon to remove the student from the list. It is faster and convienent than clicking on the student's name and removing him from the next page.

Another change was the debrief window. It is cleaner that the former. Check it out:

...

The form in the debrief window has a new option of debriefing into another sheet. We made it simple to show what sheet you are inserting it to. By default it selects the most recent report card sheet and debriefs there. An example of this usage would be if the student signed up for 2 sets of classes and one is billed differently, this will allow you to insert into the correct sheet.

...

The last update is located on the view report card function. This page is going to be most important since it will be one being displayed to the parent. Right now it is very clean with the UI being a little more intuitive. Here is the page:

...

Here is a picture of the video side. The videos still belong in a carousel.

...

Those are all the major changes we had in this version. Stay tuned for the next update!
